What is Sigillum Fidei?
Sigillum Fidei is an independent digital platform operated by Lab421 S.r.l.
It allows you to collect unique digital seals (NFT Seals) as you visit the sacred sites of the Jubilee 2025 in Rome.
Each seal represents a verified stop on your pilgrimage, and after visiting at least four sites, you can unlock your official Pilgrimage Certificate, permanently recorded on the blockchain.
How can I participate in the digital pilgrimage?
Simply download the free Sigillum Fidei app, visit a sacred site in Rome, and use the app to verify your location through GPS.
Once verified, you can unlock a digital NFT Seal that will be stored securely in your personal collection.
How much does it cost to participate?
Participation is free.
However, after unlocking each seal by visiting a sacred site, you can store it permanently on the blockchain with a small contribution fee of €4.99 (instead of €8.99).
A portion of the proceeds is donated to charitable initiatives.
How do I get the Certificate of Visit?
To receive your Certificate of Visit, you must visit at least four sacred sites.
Once the required stops are completed, the certificate can be claimed through the Sigillum Fidei app.
Can I visit other sacred sites outside of Rome?
The main pilgrimage sites are located in Rome.
However, the Sigillum Fidei experience may expand to include other sacred sites across Italy and beyond.
Will I need an internet connection to participate?
You can visit the sites and unlock your seals offline.
However, an active internet connection is required to mint the NFT Seal and store it permanently on the blockchain.
Can I share my pilgrimage journey with others?
Absolutely!
The Sigillum Fidei app allows you to easily share your pilgrimage progress, collected NFT Seals, and official Certificate of Visit with friends and family, inspiring others to embark on their own journey.
How do I know my data is secure?
Your data is stored and processed with the highest security standards, following GDPR and applicable privacy laws.
- Only the information you choose is recorded permanently on the blockchain.
- Other personal data is encrypted and managed securely by Lab421 S.r.l.
Additionally, anonymized data may be used by Lab421 for research and development of artificial intelligence systems, strictly without identifying individuals.
Is Sigillum Fidei available in multiple languages?
Yes.
The Sigillum Fidei app is available in multiple languages to ensure that pilgrims from around the world can participate and enjoy the experience.
Can I still participate if I cannot visit Rome in person?
Currently, Sigillum Fidei is designed for pilgrims physically visiting sacred sites in Rome.
Future expansions may introduce remote or virtual participation options.

What are NFTs?
NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) are unique digital assets stored on the blockchain, proving authenticity and ownership of a specific item.
Unlike cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, NFTs are not interchangeable.
In Sigillum Fidei, each NFT Seal represents a unique, tamper-proof certification of your visit to a sacred site, permanently recorded on the Polygon blockchain.
Why can’t my data on the blockchain be changed or removed after it’s recorded?
Blockchain technology is built for integrity, transparency, and immutability.
Once your certification metadata is recorded:
- It becomes part of a distributed ledger replicated across thousands of computers worldwide;
- It cannot be altered or deleted, not even by Lab421 or Sigillum Fidei.
This ensures that your pilgrimage record is permanent, trustworthy, and tamper-proof.
Is this a risk to my privacy?
Before minting an NFT Seal, you are given full control over what personal data (such as name, birth date, nationality, or profile photo) you want to permanently store on the blockchain.
Only the data you explicitly approve will be recorded.
Data outside the blockchain (e.g., in our app systems) is protected and anonymized where used for research and AI development.
Important: Data stored on the blockchain is public and permanent — choose carefully which details you wish to make public.
Is Sigillum Fidei operated by the Church or any religious institution?
No.
Sigillum Fidei is an independent initiative by Lab421 S.r.l., with no official affiliation, endorsement, or operation by any religious authority.
The app celebrates journeys of spiritual and personal significance and is open to people of all faiths and backgrounds.
Will my data be used for artificial intelligence development?
Yes, anonymized data may be used by Lab421 S.r.l. to train, validate, and improve artificial intelligence systems.
No personal identifying information is used.
This activity complies with privacy regulations and supports innovation while fully respecting your privacy.
What happens if the external server hosting the certificate image becomes unavailable?
Even if the external hosting (IPFS or HTTPS servers) becomes unavailable in the future, the authenticity of your pilgrimage certification is permanently guaranteed by the blockchain record.
The visual certificate is a graphic representation, but the official, tamper-proof proof of visit remains safely recorded on the blockchain.
Who manages the NFT Seals?
Your NFT Seals are securely managed and stored by Sigillum Fidei through our official blockchain infrastructure.
You do not need to manage private keys or a separate blockchain wallet.
Sigillum Fidei ensures the custody and availability of your NFT Seals, providing you with a permanent, tamper-proof certification of your pilgrimage.
